Placed within Maricopa County, Litchfield Park is located just 20 miles to the northwest of Phoenix. Before it became an affluent community, it was once the home of Paul Weeks Litchfield. He was an executive at the Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company in 1916 when he purchased the 5,000 acres of the Litchfield Ranch.
For years, the town was the site of cotton production. In 1929, it became the home of the Wigwam Resort. Later on, Litchfield Park was transformed into a community of 90,000 residents in 1964. Litchfield property management now covers thousands of homes and commercial sites. Today, the city includes 3.1 square miles of land and a man-made lake.
Visitors to Litchfield can check out events like the Winter Trout Fishing Derby, the Flavors of the West Festival and the Wigwam Festival of Fine Art. The community is also home to the Sprint in the Park Triathlon, the Independence Day Fireworks Celebration and the Spring Art & Culinary Festival. Runners can check out the Litchfield Park Friends of the Rec races that are held each ear.
For American fare, residents can check out Litchfield';s, Red';s Bar & Grill, the Haymaker Restaurant Co. and Dillon';s KC BBQ. Top Chinese and Vietnamese cuisine can be found at PT Noodles and China Red Cafe. Meanwhile, Lebanese and Mediterranean dishes can be found at Zeta';s Grill.
